eGovernment Excellence Award 2021 Participation Process Highlighted at Virtual Meetings

The Organizing Committee of the eGovernment Excellence Award 2021 held a series of virtual meetings to familiarize ministries, governmental entities,  private organizations  and general public with the participation process of this year’s edition. More than 165 participants attended the virtual workshops held over 3 days , from  around 70 public and private sector organizations wishing to know more about the award and how to participate along with inpiduals for the citizen category.  Now in its 11th year, the award is held under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

The workshops s, conducted via video conference from 22nd to 24th March, highlighted the award’s categories, shedding light on its objectives, conditions, regulations, participation process, and assessment mechanisms. They also discussed the importance of empowering citizens to participate in the award along with public and private sectors and building their competencies and capabilities through active participation in the competition, in addition to showcasing previous entries.

The meetings are in line with the iGA’s commitment to promoting a competitive spirit among participants and encouraging a culture of excellence and creativity among the competing organizations and inpiduals. The award gives them the freedom to share their innovative works in a positive and healthy environment, which may lead to improvements in performance and sustainable development, in turn supporting the digital transformation of the Kingdom and achieving the objectives of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 to reflect Bahrain’s leading global position.

iGA Director of Government Systems Development and eGovernment Excellence Award Abdulla Habib Organizing Committee Chairman said that the meetings discussed the award’s categories to ensure that participants’ entries meet their requirements. There was a Q&A session and attendees received advice on which categories were the most suitable for their entries and most likely to result in a win for them. He called all initiatives and projects embraced by the award “success stories”, serving as inspirations and sources of pride, providing an opportunity to introduce their projects locally, and a springboard for international recognition. This year’s award reaffirms the Kingdom’s leading position in the eGovernment field in the region, and the iGA’s ability to lead its digital transformation in a way that highlights the public sector’s important role in providing direction and guidance to the ICT sector.

Held once every two years, the award aims to incentivize innovation and excellence among all entities and inpiduals in the Kingdom.
